founded on principles of love and need
it survived
though a difficult birth left it reeling from the visceral woundings of loss
it survived tenderly
through years of orderly chaos
all the while escaping the tenets of corporate america
it survived with magic and with grace
ignoring narrow paths that had lead others to ruin
it survived with humor and great care
……
a moon’s sliver lay gently
in the arms
of jupiter and venus tonite
a soft bed of stars cradles the darkness
while cherry blossoms hugging bare limbs in the shadows
are bathed in moisture from the storms
clinging tightly to their branches they struggle like me
desperately trying to hold on
through to the rites of spring to what was
questioning survival are they losing their battle as i am?
in the distance a torch is slowly handed off
burning down once-sweet calm and easy fields in its passage
at last count
no survivors
beautiful, simply exquisite. m
