come to jesus meetin’/mama to mama

let ’em go, ol girl

its way past time

you got one son who is needed

to be unchained from your ties..

and another who is teetering

on breakdown’s ugly brink

you brought him into this world

be the adult here

its time to carefully think…

our kids need the freedom

to establish their own lives

to create their own nest

let ’em have it like we did

without guilt and the rest…

its time to release them

and really step up

they don’t owe you a thing

no one does, not life nor disease

you had your life and your fun

and did what you pleased…

but that’sover now

find  your blessings and give em

your honest best

let ’em fly solo on this one

let ’em fly, wish them the best…

you can never make it up

when a childhood is lost

if you nodded through theirs

its gone at any cost…

so take care of your business

with no guilt laid their way

let your son take care of his life

while you figure out your day…

find a place of your own

be the mama who cares

take the one son who needs you

before you lose him for real

to the demons that haunt him

get him help…the real deal

the medication for his needs

not what you give him to steal…

so yeah, here’s the  lecture

directed at you in a rhyme

my investment here is true

and their happiness isn’t yours

or mine…

its mama to mama

and i’m sayin it to you

start packing and cleanin’

and helping to sort

start planning the finale of

olive street

before she drags you to court…

let the kids have their freedom

you’ll always be his mom

want only their happiness

leave the selfishness alone..

there you have it

my two cents worth

where it doesn’t belong

but it does and you know it

take my advice

play along…
