when i was 12

and circling

the plywood tables

in earth books & gallery

you

weren’t

alive yet

when i was 15

sneaking into the

back door

of the cheetah club

to see the doors

you

weren’t

alive yet

when i sat

on a green sidewalk bench

watching your hero

wiggling his eyebrows

at all the cute boardwalk girls

passing by

the giant windows

of earth rose

you

weren’t

alive yet

you

still

aren’t

as exercise or exorcism, i write...for the eyes of others, for my eyes and heart only, for the love and the rage, i write...to release the gamut of emotion...to tell the truth and say what's often thought but not written...
