tonite
while responding to
a musical list
the memory of each
musical event
flashed before my eyes
like an old movie
or the mad shuffle
of a deck of cards..
all in all, its been
a lucky life…
to have lived where
i’ve lived
to have seen
what i’ve seen
to have experienced
times like no other…
from the oddities surrounding
teenage years in the 60’s
from the beats’ end
to the peace love & understanding
on venice beach..
from the magic of a
new sound
ripe and fiery
from CA’s southern
to northern
rock n roll hills …
from LA’s literary madmen
to the discovery of art as word..
places, historical and rich
in a time like no other
caught me in their grip…
what an incredible fortune
to be a part
of music
of art
of life
at its peak..
i’ve been lucky
blessed by some
odd and foreign winds
that have blown me
in these directions..
with no need to ‘impress’
the re-telling often becomes
unbelievable to some…
but ah…
i’m lucky to have had
what i’ve had
to have been where i’ve been
to have seen and felt
what i have..
tasting the riches
amid the chaos
making it through
somehow
through this life so far…
it was the life
of the crazy, fearless young!
the flipside
the erractic antithesis
of the loss
and the oddness
of what the todays
and the creatures within
these times of now
are often composed of…
lucky.
crazy lucky to have
walked those roads..
crazy lucky too
to be alive
to tell the tales…
